Leah Donnella is News Assistant for NPR.
In her Valentine's day article, "In Search Of Black-On-Black Love" Leah Donnella answers a pressing question of one of her readers, a black women looking for black love. Donnella includes a number of sources in her explanation of the stereotypes, myths, and reality of why "black-on-black" love seems so hard to come by in modern times. While remaining professional, Donnella employs a casual tone, mentioning the reader's name several times as if they were having a conversation. She also includes herself in the group of black women she speaks of, repeating "we". This repetition of "we" also makes it clear that Donnella's target audience is black women looking to be in relationships with black men.
