mission-driven”
organization that produces relevant and informative news and radio broadcasting. Since
its foundation in February 1970, NPR News' main goal has been to inform its readers on worldly currents events.
With hundreds of correspondents and production bases worldwide, NPR has become increasingly important as a
cultural icon.
The 80's were arguably the most notable years in the foundation of NPR. During this decade NPR became the first
station to broadcast nationwide.
All Things Considered
and
Morning Edition
, NPR's first newsmagazines, were both
published in this decade.
In '83 NPR was hit with a major financial disaster, but it soon recovered with an even
stronger, more organized management and continued its rapid growth throughout the 90's as it becoming more
widely followed and well known.
Talk of the Nation
, NPR's first ever live broadcast aired in this decade. Also,
NPR
Worldwide
